Hmmm?

I think this miiight be what our friend Mr. Gore was talking about in his, afore mentioned article, "Climate of Denial."

What do you think?

"The Earth is Round, Elvis is Dead, and the Climate Crisis is Real"

Al Gore's recent article in the Rolling Stone, has been commanding a lot of attention the past few days. It has been touted, by the media, as an attack on President Obama's lack of progress on Climate Change and Clean Energy legislation. The article, aptly titled, "Climate of Denial," has been featured on many different TV and Radio shows and has been portrayed as a plea from Mr. Gore to the President for more action.

While Gore does address his feelings on how President Obama is handling the climate change situation, I would have to say it falls far short of being a full on attack. His empathy for the President's current political situation is clear and he seems to believe that simply attacking the President will only add fuel to the fire of those who oppose the President on every political platform. Instead Gore focuses much of his article on the media who, he claims, have disregarded the need to report facts and instead spew what they know their audience will want to hear (fact or not).... nothing new here. He cleverly relates the battle of climate change to a wrestling match where there are good guys fighting bad. The referee (or in this case the media) somehow always manages to have his back turned when the bad guys breaks the rules and never fails to blow the whistle at the first sign of rule breaking from the good guys.

Gore's central message is that climate change policy is needed, and it is needed now. We can no longer engage in the debate of whether or not it is real, nor can we continue giving air time to those who believe it is simply a hoax. Inaction is no longer an option and to make a change we need the President of the United States to make a stand.

I urge you to read the article, while much of it may come across as a lecture to the media, there is a lot of useful information that is worth the read. Take a look, and then take action!

Wait, what?

While surfing the internet between classes the other day I happened to stumble upon this article on Think Progress.org.  My first reaction was; "wait, what?? Is this real?" And then my second reaction was, "what a great way to start my new blog!"

It seems as though the Natural Gas Industry feels the need to create favorable depictions of fracking techniques to 9 year-olds. A good indication that they're running out of people to convince... Maybe?
So, how have these energy giants gone about 'educating' the children? Through coloring books of course!! Yes, that's right now you and your child can download the free pdf version of Talisman Terry, your friendly Fracosaurus, and color the enlightening pages that depict a world before drilling (booooring) and a world after drilling (uuhh-maazing!).

See, without drilling there would be no rainbows, and that would be bad. Also, not that many trees are cut down and small pretty ones are planted to replace the other ones. What a wonderful world... :-) Thank goodness for "Talisman Terry."

This kind of reminds me of something else...
